Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Colorado returns Feb. 23

Denver-area Media and Professional Sports Plunge Teams

This year, Special Olympics Colorado introduces two media and two professional sports Plunge Teams open to the public. The Colorado Rapids Soccer Club will be captained by mascot Edson the Eagle and the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse Team will be captained by Mammoth player Alex Demopoulos. 9NEWS will field a team led by Gregg Moss, and Mike Evans will lead a Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan Plunge Team. The teams are currently recruiting members, and viewers, listeners, fans and supporters are encouraged to get on board by registering to join them. PlungeFest & After Party

The area surrounding the Aurora Reservoir will be utilized for a full festival this year. The PlungeFest will include heated tents, vendors, food and music. Mike Evans of Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan will emcee the event. Special Olympics Colorado encourages Plungers and spectators to spend time before and after the Plunge enjoying the family-friendly atmosphere of the PlungeFest which will include a "Chilly Cook-off," among other activities. Following the Plunge, an after party will be held at nearby Arapahoe Park with food, music, cash bar and entertainment.
