Kyla is talking about Raeven Atty, an 18-year-old student at the school.
Though Raeven is young in years, she's old in experience. Especially volunteer experience.
"I currently volunteer with Poudre Valley Hospital, Crossroads Safehouse and the Sexual Assault Resource Team," she says.
Her main volunteer gig is at PVH, where she's a "Volunteen."
"Raeven is very outgoing, she's a self-starter, she can be told to do a task and she takes it and runs with it," says Susan Nadeau, director of volunteer services at Poudre Valley Hospital.
One task Raeven has is to hand out cookies to patients. Raeven is sure to take her sweet personality into each room along with the sweet treats.
"You're really helping people if they become sick, but you're also helping them to become better," she says.
At school, Raeven is a peer counselor and teaches students about sexual violence.
Raeven says her goal is to help students, "Understand what is ok in a healthy relationship and what is not and what are the red flags going towards an abusive relationship and how to prevent it."
Raeven also started the Black Student Alliance at her school, which works to celebrate black heritage.
"She wants to do good in the world," Kyla says, "She wants to make a difference and she does. She makes a difference every day for us here."
Raeven hopes to continue to make a difference, especially in the medical field. She wants to become either a nurse or a doctor.
Please join 9NEWS and College In Colorado in congratulating Raeven Atty, a 2008 9Kid Who Cares.
