In fact, they have gone above and beyond to be named May's 9Who Care Winners.
Beeble and Polito have been teaching kids with physical and developmental disabilities the game of soccer through the Arvada Soccer Club for 10 years.
"It is a broad range from physical disabilities only to developmental disabilities to Autism," Beeble said. "We are getting more and more kids on the Autism spectrum."
It was supposed to be short term, but they loved it so much, both continued coaching.
It all started when Beeble's daughter started volunteering 10 years ago. The coach was stepping down, leaving the program in question.
"Being a former special education teacher and a parent of a special needs child, I recruited my friend, a former P.E. teacher, and we decided we needed to keep the program going," Polito said.
Now, every Friday during the season, the kids practice in big anticipation for their Saturday games.
"On Saturday, we have typical teams come and play our kids, which makes it more authentic for them and a lot of fun for the typical kids," Polito added.
But it isn't about just teaching the basic skills to these young soccer players. For these coaches, it means a whole lot more.
"Its amazing, not only seeing their growth from toddlerhood to young adults, but to watch their social interactions has been the most rewarding for us because of their friends," Bebble said.
Both of these 9Who Care Award winners say the award should represent all of the volunteers and the parents who set aside their time every week to bring their kids to the soccer field.
"We got to read some of the things the parents wrote, and it was so touching," Polito said. "It made me feel so good that it's so important to them."
"You'll get way more than you put into it by being there with people who need your help," Beeble added. "Its much more for me than it is for them."
Beeble and Polito said they are always looking for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, or if you have a child you think would be a perfect fit for the program, visit the Edge Soccer Club's website.
