Ashton Altieri joined 9NEWS in the summer of 2006. You can see him each weekend morning next to Shawn Patrick and Cheryl Preheim on 9NEWS Saturday and Sunday Morning. He can also be seen on 9NEWS WeatherPlus.

"I feel very privileged to be working in a state with such fascinating weather," says Ashton. He explains that working in Colorado "was never on my radar" but now that he's here, he has no plans to leave.

Ashton was born in Delaware and lived in New Jersey before moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Living down the street from the University of Michigan turned Ashton into a huge Michigan fan. Go Blue!

He completed his undergraduate degree at Central Michigan University atop the world's flattest mountain in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Ashton then earned a Master's degree in absurdly humid Starkville, Mississippi at Mississippi State University.

While in college, Ashton worked at WLNS-TV in Lansing, MI before going to WCBI-TV in Columbus, MS. He then moved to Des Moines, IA where he was the Morning Meteorologist at WOI-TV for three years before coming to 9NEWS.

An Eagle Scout, Ashton has hiked and backpacked throughout the country and continues to be involved in Scouting through the Denver Area Council. He is a passionate runner, skier, and storm chaser. He also enjoys golf but spends the majority of his time on the course searching for lost balls.

Ashton has earned the coveted Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society as well as the Television Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
