Marty Coniglio
9NEWS WEEKEND WEATHER ANCHOR
Marty Coniglio joined the 9NEWS Weather team in August, 2004. He is the forecaster for the Saturday and Sunday 5 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts.
Marty is originally from Nebraska and graduated with a degree in Meteorology from the University of Nebraska in 1984.
His first television experience came at KOLN in Lincoln, where he worked part-time on Saturday nights for one full year. His first assignment as a Chief Meteorologist was at WKBT in LaCrosse, WI in 1986. At Action 8 News Marty was responsible for all aspects of the weather coverage as he produced and performed the Noon, 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. weathercasts Mondays through Fridays.
A move a few hundred miles to the south landed Marty in Decatur, Illinois. After starting as the midday meteorologist he was quickly promoted to the Chief Meteorologist and spent two wonderful years there before joining KCNC as their weekend meteorologist in 1989.
For ten years at KCNC, Marty was lucky to have many, many different and interesting experiences as chief meteorologist. From the daily duties of forecasting Colorado's weather to guest appearances on the Weekend TODAY show, overnight meteorologist for NBC "Nightside" and co-host of "NEWS4 Kids" a fun, intelligent and entertaining Saturday morning program for young people.
In 1999, Marty earned the position of Chief Meteorologist at KMGH 7NEWS where he led the team of meteorologists while producing and forecasting for the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts on Mondays through Fridays.
Marty plays the mandolin and guitar. He also enjoys running, skiing and bike riding. Since 1998 Marty has been an airplane pilot and has earned advanced ratings for high performance and instrument flight.
