"The move is really about improving the viewing experience for the consumers of Universal Sports," said 9NEWS President and General Manager Mark Cornetta. "By moving the location to My20's digital channel 20.2, we can improve the picture quality by increasing the amount of bandwidth available to that channel. Our viewers will notice a marked improvement in both the quality of the picture and audio. It's an exciting opportunity for the Networks of 9NEWS and a mark of our commitment to providing the best programming experience for all of our consumers."
On January 10 at 9 a.m. viewers watching Universal Sports on channel 9.3 will see a message instructing them to rescan their digital channels. Following the instructions specific to their digital tuner, either on an analog-to-digital converter box or on a digital-enabled tuner on their television, viewers will rescan the over-the-air signals. After successfully rescanning, viewers can watch the improved look of Universal Sports on channel 20.2.
Comcast Digital Cable subscribers will continue to view Universal Sports broadcasts on channel 250.
