9NEWS Vice President and News Director Patti Dennis said, "Recognition by The Academy validates the long-standing commitment of 9NEWS to excellence in broadcast journalism. Our gifted storytellers in all facets of news and television production rightly should be proud of this recognized work as well as the work they produce for our viewers every day."

The Academy named 9NEWS anchor Adele Arakawa Best News Anchor for the depth and breadth of her anchor entry, emphasizing not merely her work in studio, but in field anchoring at the Fourmile Canyon fire and in moderating a local political debate. The news team of Arakawa and co-anchor Mark Koebrich won the award for Best Evening Newscast.

Long-time video journalist Dave Delozier was the evening's most decorated 9NEWS nominee, winning five Heartland Emmy awards to add to his impressive resume. Delozier won two awards in the Sports - News Feature category, and awards in the Documentary - Cultural Issues, Journalistic Enterprise and Video Journalist categories.

In one of the highlights of the silver anniversary evening, 9NEWS morning anchor Gary Shapiro was inducted into the Heartland Chapter's Silver Circle for 25 years of outstanding contributions to the field of Colorado broadcasting.
