Denver, CO - The Heartland Chapter of the National Television Academy announced the 2009 Regional Emmy Nominees and 9NEWS topped the list. KUSA received a total of 72 nominations, including Station of Excellence and Best Morning, Daytime, and Evening Newscasts. 9NEWS' 72 nominations are more than the combined nominations of its two closest competitors, KCNC and KMGH.

Mark Koebrich was nominated for Best News Anchor. 9NEWS also received nominations in multiple categories for coverage of the Windsor tornado, including Best Newscasts at morning, afternoon and evening, as well as Breaking News.
Two 9NEWS reporters also produced documentaries found worthy of Emmy nominations. Bazi Kanani's "Reaching Rwanda" and Thanh Truong's "Vietnam: Journeys Through Time" will compete in the Documentary - Cultural Issues category.
