Prominent among 9NEWS awards include Breaking News for coverage of the Windsor tornado, Daytime Newscast for 4 o'clock at 9NEWS, Investigative Reporting for a 9Wants to Know report about pricing practices at one local grocery store chain, Advanced Media - Interactivity for Your Show, Sportscast by Susie Wargin, and Journalistic Enterprise by reporter Chris Vanderveen.

During the evening, 9NEWS Vice President and News Director, Patti Dennis, was inducted into the chapter's Silver Circle in recognition of a career devoted to excellence in journalism. "I am thrilled to join some of the elite journalists in the Heartland Silver Circle," Dennis said. "I am humbled by it as well. I love this industry and I am very optimistic about the future of local news. We are connecting with our viewers and users in new and exciting ways. Information is moving at light speed and I am proud to be on a team that thrives on the speed and importance of local news."
