Denver, CO - At a formal banquet Friday night at the Marriot Denver City Center, 9NEWS journalists dominated the television portion of the Colorado Association of Black Journalists "Scribes in Excellence" competition.
9NEWS won five of the ten categories, equaling the total from all other competitors combined. 9NEWS President and General Manager, Mark Cornetta, said "the recognition of 9NEWS journalists by the CABJ is well-deserved. From the mountains of Rwanda to our own Rocky Mountains, 9NEWS consistently demonstrates a commitment to quality storytelling on issues important not just to the African-American community, but to all our viewers."
9NEWS assignment editor, Nadia Gedeon, was additionally recognized as the 2009 CABJ Broadcast Journalist of the Year, edging out 9NEWS photojournalist and fellow nominee, Byron Reed. Gedeon will serve as the new president of the 150-member CABJ.
