Denver, CO- Students from Littleton to Fort Collins, in 22 school districts, received more than $72,000 worth of supplies to help them learn in these tough economic times.
The Stuff for Students drive held at 9NEWS on August 8th was the most successful school supply drive yet. 9NEWS anchors Mark Koebrich, Kim Christiansen and Kirk Montgomery were on hand to collect the loads of supplies donated by 9NEWS viewers.
People also placed donations in barrels located at Wal-Mart stores all along the Front Range from July 27th to August 8th. FedEx picked up the barrels and delivered supplies to Volunteers of America who handled distribution to the schools. Online donations were also accepted through EZ School Supplies. A generous donation was made by Regal Theaters which gave $11,000 to purchase supplies.
School districts received the supplies on August 13th and 14th. The supplies were then passed on to schools and teachers for use in their classrooms. This is the eighth annual 9News Stuff for Students school supply drive.
