The 9Teachers Who Care program started six years ago as a way to recognize excellent teachers who not only promote strong academic achievement but also show the students that they care.  A selection committee identifies one teacher a month, from September through May, to receive the award.  The winning teacher receives $900 from CollegeInvest, and he or she is featured on 9News and 9news.com.

Winners will be featured on 9News on the second Thursday of the month on the 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. broadcasts and the following Saturday during the 7 am show, in a story produced by 9News anchor Bob Kendrick.    In June, 9News hosts a special dinner for the winners.

Teachers can profoundly influence the lives of their students.  This program looks to honor those who are positively impacting our children and encouraging them to be good citizens in the community.  If you know a teacher who goes above and beyond in the classroom, nominate him or her for this award.  Call 9News to request a nomination form at 303-871-9999 or download a form from 9news.com/9twc.

Nomination packets are accepted all year.  Nomination packets must include the nomination form, one letter from the nominator, one letter of recommendation from an individual other than a family member and one letter from a school principal or administrator.  Please do not submit additional support materials, such as photos, videotapes or audio cassettes.  Only winners and their nominators will be notified.  Nominations submitted by e-mail and fax will not be accepted.  Nomination packets will not be returned.  Only complete nomination packets will be considered.
