Denver, CO— Thousands of children in poverty will start school this year with all of the tools they need for learning—thanks to the generous donations of Coloradoans during the Stuff For Students drive.  Today the Pepsi Center parking lot was very busy, as people stopped by to drop off their donations.

While we’ve received a lot of supplies, we still need help!  According to the Colorado Department of Education there are more than 150,000 students on the federal free and reduced cost lunch programs, in the districts we’re serving alone.  We’d like to help as many of those students as possible, so please encourage readers to continue to give.  Stuff  For Students barrels will be in Front Range Wal*Mart and Rio Grande locations through Sunday.

Needed School Supplies:
·  backpacks
·  ruled filler paper/wide ruled and college ruled
·  pocket folders
·  black and blue pens
·  #2 pencils
·  pack of colored pencils
·  pencil boxes
·  crayons (24 count)
·  colored markers
·  highlighters
·  white glue
·  glue sticks
·  scissors (all ages)
·  erasers
·  rulers
·  hand pencil sharpeners

The Stuff For Students drive will benefit 17 school districts along the Front Range.  Beginning Monday, volunteers with VOA will help to sort the donations and then distribute them to the selected districts next week.  The districts will distribute the supplies.

The Stuff For Students drive does not provide supplies directly to individuals.  We encourage families in need to contact their school administrators.  They may be able to assist you with school supplies and other needs.
