Fort Collins, CO— For more than two decades, Roger Wolfe has been the voice of Northern Colorado, covering countless stories in Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland and beyond.  Now, he’s signed off from the 9News Northern Bureau for the last time to begin a new chapter in his life...retirement.

“It’s exciting to move on to a new stage of my life,” said Wolfe.  “I am looking forward to having some free time to do the things I really enjoy, like camping, golfing, hiking, biking, skiing and traveling, all those “ing” things.”

Wolfe moved to Colorado and 9News 22 years ago and has reported from the Northern Newsroom that entire time.  9News Photojournalist Gary Wolfe has worked with his brother for ten of those years and says he’s proud of his brother—and the reputation he’s earned as a reporter people can trust.  “People know that when they’re on the phone with Roger, they’re going to get a fair shake.  Police, fire and other agencies know that he’s not coming in with some hidden agenda.”

“We are happy for Roger, but sad to see him go,” said 9News President & General Manager Mark Cornetta.  “He’s an institution in Northern Colorado.  We’ll have big shoes to fill.”

Roger says while he won’t miss the daily grind of reporting, he is going to miss working with his brother Gary, and the feeling of producing great stories together.  “I’ll miss the satisfaction of taking the raw ingredients of a story and having that all come together into something that really works. “

In addition to a lot of recreation, Roger plans to do some freelance video work.  Just don’t expect him to be on-call during the next big snowstorm.  “One thing I am looking forward to is seeing a good snowfall come down and look at it out the window.  I won’t have to wonder if the phone is going to ring, forcing me to go out to I-25 to do a live shot in the cold and the dark.”

There will be a gathering in Roger's honor this weekend:

August 11th at 5:30 p.m.
Coloradoan
1300 Riverside Avenue in Fort Collins
Contact: Gary Wolfe, 970-484-5332
