Denver, CO - - 9Health Fair, Colorado's largest non-profit health fair program, announced today that it awarded 28 communities with grants totaling $20,000. Ranging between $500 and $1,000 each, the grants are designed to support a community's ability to offer a 9Health Fair by reimbursing for out-of-pocket expenses and by fostering community support for new or existing volunteer-run sites. The 29th annual 9Health Fair is April 12-20, 2008.

"We are very proud to make these new grants available to these 9Health Fair communities," said Jim Goddard, President and CEO of 9Health Fair. "Each year, more than 19,000 every-day people and medical professionals from 165 communities volunteer to host a 9Health Fair and celebrate their neighborhood's health and wellness. Thanks to our individual and community supporters, 9Health Fair is grateful that we can provide even more support to these communities and to help enhance the state's good health."

9Health Fair's mission is to promote health awareness and to encourage individuals to assume responsibility for their own health. The organization furthers its mission by offering free and low-cost health screenings and education to anyone over 18.
