This commitment has once again been recognized by the Colorado Association of Black Journalists. The CABJ has nominated the station for six awards for its coverage of the African American community. 9NEWS Reporter TaRhonda Thomas has also been selected as a finalist for the Association's Broadcast Journalist of the Year honor.

A terrible car accident and a revelation during a coma that followed provided Justin Merow with the impetus he needed to turn his life around. He became a Christian rapper. Now he uses his words and his example to help other at-risk kids.
TV Business- "Ethel's House of Soul'

After 30 years behind the counter the owner and namesake of "Ethel's House of Soul" decided to retire. 9NEWS Reporter TaRhonda Thomas captured Ethel's last day at the soul food restaurant
TV Public Affairs- "Africa Special"

9NEWS Anchor Bazi Kanani returned to the homeland of her ancestors, Tanzania, and brought viewers along with her on the journey.
TV Photojournalism- "Born From Stone"

During the Chapungu exhibit at the Denver Botanic Gardens classes visitors were offered a chance to learn how to sculpt. Byron Reed followed a class as they turned plain rocks into beautiful sculptures.
