But the "Broncos Nuns," who have been cheering the team on from the top floor at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver for more than four decades have a different take.
"I do know he's deeply devout and he has a wonderful presence with his teammates," Sister Renee Washut said.
The sisters say Tebow embodies the teachings of the Bible through his actions on and off the field. They attribute his strong belief in God to why he's been afforded so many miracles.
"I think miracles are based on faith and religion and good, and we're strong believers in miracles and yesterday was proof of that," Sister J.V Martinez said.
Ever since Tebow wore the scripture "John 3:16" on his eye black in college, the religious symbolism gained in popularity.
On Sunday night, when the Broncos took on the Steelers, symbolism was all over the stadium. Tebow threw for 316 yards and he averaged 31.6 yards per pass.
The "Broncos Nuns" call it miracles based on faith and religion. They call the Broncos "luck" divine intervention.
"We believe that He is within each of us and whatever reason, however it happens, he [Tebow] has gifts and the Lord is helping him be the best," Sister Washut said.
