Daniel is the Breckenridge attorney accused of faking his own disappearance in 2007 and stealing more than $500,000 from his clients.
He was found in December trying to enter the United States from Mexico near San Diego, Calif.
Daniel pleaded guilty to two felony counts of theft over $15,000.
Fifth Judicial Chief Deputy District Attorney Scott Turner says a pre-sentencing investigation will look into how much money if any money Daniel may still have. Daniel previously told 9NEWS he did not spend any of the money he took. He was living in Mexico on money he made writing freelance travel articles.
He will be sentenced on April 19. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
