The infant monkey lost her mother to poachers. Now the pellets and fractures she got during the attack threatened to take her life if she did not get surgery soon.

Colorado State University graduate Molly Reeve introduced 9NEWS to Izzie. Reeve works with Wildtracks animal rehabilitation center in Belize, where Izzie is recovering.

Thursday morning, Reeve told 9NEWS the a veterinarian was found to do the surgery. The surgery is scheduled for Sunday.

Due to all the publicity, Wildtracks was able to raise 100 percent of the targeted $2,500 and have been able to cover much of Izzie's medical costs and travel expenses. They also were able to buy all the materials needed for her rehabilitation cage.

Izzie has been growing rapidly. She is using her tail now more and more and can climb just about anything.

"Her climbing skills are quite remarkable considering she has one arm," Reeve told 9NEWS.

She recently discovered the joy of swinging and jumping. She loves the color red.
