Andrews is best known for her roles in Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. She is the recipient of several awards including a Golden Globe Award, Emmy Award and People's Choice Award.
Her new book is called Little Bo in London, and it is about a tiny cat and her best friend Billy. The two of them have traveled from England to France but are now cruising through the Mediterranean. Andrews talked further about the book.
"It's quite an adventure this one. It's the wrap up. It's complete adventure by itself, but it is the wrap up of the four books in a way. They eventually accomplish something quite amazing and end up going to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen," Andrews said.
Andrews has written New York Times bestsellers. She talked about how gratifying it is to co-write with her daughter and write children's books.
"It's just the most happy mixture of the two because I love working with my daughter. We've been doing it now for about 13 years, and I think this is probably our 27th book together, and we're just thrilled to be doing it. It's such a pleasure for me. If somebody had said to me when she was a tiny little girl we'd be facing each other across the table as two equal women enjoying each other and laughing playing in this wonderful sandbox, I don't think I would have believed them," Andrews said.
Andrews also talked about how she is directing one of her stories in Connecticut.
"Yes, it has been quite a busy two months for me. The book coming out and an adaptation of one of our other books called The American Mousical. Not a musical, but a 'mousical,' it has been developed into a musical for the theater, and we're working on it in Connecticut. Audiences seem to be really loving it," Andrews said.
