VIEW SLIDESHOW DENVER - By 6 a.m. Saturday, it looked more like fans waiting for a prime-time Denver Broncos game. Hundreds of people were lined up in their cars as their headlights glowed around Invesco Field, with trunks and back seats full of old televisions, computers and printers.
Larry Sellon and his wife were two of the eager recyclers.
"It's great. We've had some of this stuff for years. We've been looking for an opportunity to get rid of it. So we really appreciate this," Sellon said.
The couple came to a prior recycling event in March but were turned away when there wasn't any room for more items.
"We tried. We were early, but not early enough," Sellon said.
This time around, organizers had 112 semi-trailers combined at both Invesco Field and Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
Organizers say a total of 750,000 pounds of consumer electronic items were recycled between the two locations.
More than 6,000 vehicles of participants were counted at the two stadiums on Saturday.
Sellon had his pickup truck full of old items.
"We've got some TV sets, computers, cell phones," Sellon said.
