VIEW LAUNCH SLIDESHOW PUMPKIN PREPS AURORA - Hundreds of people showed up to see pumpkins blast off Saturday.
It’s part of the Annual Jack-O-Launch at Delaney Farm near 1st and Alameda in Aurora.
Contestants use catapults to launch pumpkins hundreds of feet in the air for spectators to watch them explode on impact.
Each catapult is unique. Some of them look like something you might see in Braveheart.
If you go, you'll also see eccentric cheerleaders, kooky pirates and a fire breathing dragon.
Contestants will be judged on engineering, accuracy, style and team spirit.
The fall festival will have live music from Opie Gone Bad, hay rides, a pumpkin patch, a farmer’s market and scarecrow making.
The first round of launching started at 9 a.m. The competition is a benefit for Denver Urban Gardens.
