VIEW SLIDESHOW DENVER -
Falling Rock Tap House celebrated the hop harvest on Oct. 19 along with several Colorado breweries, yet no local beer house came back with the top prize.
The homegrown Great Divide, Oskar Blues and Ska Brewing all competed, along with Oregon's Deschutes and Full Sail breweries.
All of the breweries brought their seasonally brewed Fresh Hop ales to the table, a process that involves using hops within 24 hours of being harvested, often skipping the kilning step.
Attendees were asked to vote on their favorite brews grading on several different criteria. For a list of the winners and photos of the event, go to http://denver.metromix.com/events/photogallery/booze-hounds/696179/content.
