DENVER - Owning a cat or dog in Denver became more expensive Monday night after the Denver City Council passed a bill that will increase fees and fines for pets.
The Department of Environmental Health will now set prices for licensing, pet adoption fees and vaccinations.
Adoption fees for puppies will increase by $40 and for adult dogs it will go up to $20. It will also cost $5 more for a one-year license.
Supports of the bill say it is long overdue because the fees have not been increased in more than 25 years.
