BOULDER - Police are searching for three people who they say stole a 2-month-old standard Dachshund from an animal shelter earlier this month.
Boulder Police released surveillance photos on Wednesday of three people who they say took the puppy, named Ferris, from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, located at 2323 55th St. on Aug. 12, around 7 p.m.
According to police, they suspects were in the adoption center between 6:50 p.m. and 7 p.m., and workers told them they could look, but not meet any of the animals because the adoption center was about to close.
A short time later, police say a worker saw a green, four-door sedan "flying out of the parking lot" and soon realized Ferris was missing.
Surveillance photos showed two men and woman leaving the building through an unsecured door. They say one of the suspects is a white man with brown hair, who was wearing a short-sleeved striped Polo-style shirt and dark pants.
Police say the other man was white with brown hair wearing a red button-up shirt and tan cargo-style shorts. The woman was described by police as white with blondish hair pulled back in a ponytail. They say she was wearing a green short-sleeved T-shirt with white writing on the front, and sport shorts.
The missing puppy, Ferris, is described as chestnut brown, with floppy ears. He was wearing a yellow collar when he was stolen. He was valued at $250.
Anyone with information on the Dachshund's whereabouts should call Boulder Police at 303-441-3333. If tipsters wish to remain anonymous, they should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, and could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
