Chris Loney is a senior at Adams City High School in Commerce City. Chris is the first student in the history of his school to be elected student body president his junior and senior years. He is a very likable leader, and in his four years at Adams City High School, he has made quite the impression on leaders in his community.
“Chris truly models the behavior, academic excellence, and human qualities that give me great hope for the future of our society,” says John Lange, superintendent of Adams County School District 14.
Currently, Chris gives tireless hours to Rotary Interact, a club that takes on many community service projects. Chris says volunteering comes naturally to him. "I came to know that if I helped someone, it could impact their life and maybe someone else’s forever.”
Last year, Chris proved those words when he helped organize "Kids First". The youth-driven committee took on the Herculean effort of getting voters to build a new Adams City High School. While the school is irreparable, in the past the bond issues for a new school always failed. Chris did everything from speaking in front of City Council and raising thousands of dollars to staffing phones and running a media campaign. The bond passed.
“The impact that Chris has had on our entire community cannot be measured. Chris is the most remarkable student I have ever known,” says City Councilwoman, Reba Drotar.
