DENVER - Several workshops are planned Saturday to help parents learn about adoption.
The Journey of Asian Adoption - Building a Multicultural Family will offer workshops about domestic and international adoption on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Saturday Workshops include:
Adoption 101:
-Get the real facts
-Non-traditional adoption
-Trials & tribulations of adolescence & what your adopted child may not tell you
Roundtable:
-What my adopted child has taught me.
-Adopting children with special needs
-Developmental tasks of adopted children - how parents can provide effective support
-Heritage journey travel and finding your birth family
-Evolving identities in adoption
-Challenging emotional issues and strengths of the adoptive child
Rick Reilly, a nationally recognized sportswriter, and his adopted daughter Rae will speak publicly on Friday night at the Gala dinner.
