Also, be cautious when giving online. A website that looks legit can be set up in less than an hour.

Don't succumb to high-pressure emotional pitches. Giving on the spot is never necessary. Always avoid the middle-man, also.

The BBB also recommends consumers take a closer look at the impact of non-monetary donations like drives for food and clothing.
