"You don't have to be Oprah or Donald Trump to be a well-known brand, but you can be the best in your space and make other people find you compelling and relevant," Citroen said.
Citroen is an internationally-regarded, Denver-based branding expert who has more than 20 years of experience in creating standout strategies for both companies and individuals. She currently operates through the organization, LIDA360. Through LIDA360, Citroen works with corporations, nonprofits, executives and war veterans alike.
On 9NEWS, Citroen shared some job tips and skills every employee needs to be successful, whether they are job searching or looking to increase their work potential. A common mistake for those in the job search, Citroen says is "cleansing your resume" of all personality.
"As a hiring manager, they're looking for a cultural fit as well, not just a list of experiences and skills," Citroen said.
In addition to personalizing your resume, Citroen says, job hunters should boost their online presence.
"Get the employers to find you as well as send resumes," Citroen said. "Look at your online platforms ... make sure that they can find you online."
Workers can then use all the different platforms to prove their self-confidence to potential employers, Citroen says.
"Confidence is so attractive to employers," Citroen said. "You might not have all the skills, but if you've got the personality and you're a fit for that company and you bring some enthusiasm, someone might be willing to take a chance on you."
Once current and future jobseekers create a brand, it's important for them to maintain their reputation, Citroen says.
"It's about finding a job, keeping a job and growing a job," Citroen said. "Just because you're in a job today, it doesn't mean that you might be in a week ... so build your personal brand and focus on your reputation."
On Jan. 25, Citroen will be holding a half-day workshop in Denver to help people create their personal brand and maximize their company value. For more information about the upcoming workshop and LIDA360, visit http://www.lida360.com/index.html and follow Citroen @LIDA360.
