DENVER - Hundreds of Colorado high school students are getting a chance to make millions, too bad it's not real money.

They are taking part in the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge.

On Thursday students from dozens of Denver metro high schools got together at the Cable center on the University of Denver's campus, to take part in the Stock Market challenge; a game that simulates the stock market.

Here's how it work, there are 110 teams and each team is given $500,000 in mock stock. The team then invests the money into fictional companies. Over a period of time the teams interpret and react to fictional world events and developments. Whoever has the highest net worth at the end of the challenge wins.

The students took a series of classes on how the stock market works. The challenge allows the teens to put what they have learned to the test, in a high energy, loud and fun environment.

The challenge not only teaches students real world skills, but also gets them thinking about the economy; where their money is going and how they can make it go farther.
