KUSA - Consumer Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports is the latest voice weighing in on the health reform debate.

Consumer Reports is unveiling an ad on Monday calling on lawmaker to fix the health-care system.

"Too many Americans are just one pink slip away, or one major illness away, from losing their health coverage, " says Jum Guest, Consumer Union president. "That's why policymakers need to find a solution this year."

The campaign comes after Consumer Reports unveiled the results of a recent national health care poll that illustrates just how severely consumers are being affected by rising health costs.

The poll of 1,022 adults shows that 73 percent reported loss of coverage or benefit reductions across all income levels.

Over half of those polled, 51 percent said they had to make more difficult medical decision due to cost savings in the last year.

- 22% Put off a medical procedure
- 20% Declining a medical test
- 20% Not filling a prescription
- 15% Using expired medication
- 15% Skipping a scheduled dose
- 13% Splitting pills
