DENVER - If you are tired of credit card companies raising rates and fees while cutting your credit limit, personal finance expert Jordan Goodman wants to help. He was with us on 9NEWS 7 a.m.
"People are seeing their rates go up, their penalties go up, their minimums going up, and it's really causing a lot of problems," Goodman told us. The best advice Goodman offers is to keep your credit score in good shape.
"Monitor your credit to make sure it is as accurate as possible at all times," Goodman said. "And then there are lots of other deals other than the credit card advertisements you receive in the mail."
Goodman says you should shop around when it comes to finding the best credit card to fit your needs.
Another problem among cardholders are the credit lines. A new poll shows 51 percent have had their credit lines cut in the last six months. "So you're going to be dealing with less credit going forward," Goodman said.
He says do not close your credit card if you find yourself in this predicament. "Then you wipe out all your credit history on that account," Goodman said.
