DENVER - Tucked away in a small corner of the Colorado Convention Center is a little slice of heaven for technology lovers.
The fifth annual DEMOgala has taken up residency in Gallery B for one day only. And Thursday promises to be a day filled with everything new in the world of high-tech.
There are futuristic glass tables that seem to dance to the touch of your finger.
"It is a table with a computer imbedded in it and infrared cameras looking back up at it so it can see when we touch it," Rob Dixon from PlanetTelex.net explained. "For restaurants this can be used for games but you can also order drinks through it or interact with your drink on it."
The bigger than life iPhone look-a-like will run you about $15,000.
On a smaller, more down to Earth level, one company will take your old home movies and bring them into the digital age. Anything from 8MM film to VHS, if you can get the video to them, they can get it online for you.
"What we have is an online collaborative video service where you can take any type of media, either upload it or send it to us, and we can actually convert it for you," Pixorial President Andres Espineira said.
While getting black and white film onto a Facebook page may seem impressive, perhaps the most buzz was generated by something that was generating no power at all.
The Pedalectric PDL-100 prototype is hyped as the car of the future. Technically, it's known as a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle.
This pedal-powered pavement pounder is very likely to remind onlookers of a certain cartoon character more than the future of travel.
"I think almost everyone comes up with Fred Flintstone. And I think the horn signal on this is going to be yabba dabba doo," the creator, Don Missey, joked.
In all seriousness, the Pedalectric is scheduled to be available on the market by next spring, with a base cost of about $4,800.
"$10,000 buys you the Porsche of bicycles," Missey said.
As for the DEMOgala, it will be in the Colorado Convention Center on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
And yes, the quad-cycle of the future will be there for all to see.
