Kelly Richardson, public relations specialist, said OtterBox is in the preliminary phase of looking to open an office in Hong Kong sometime next year to serve its customers in China and the surrounding regions.
Richardson said the plans for a Hong Kong office still are in the development phase, and she could not provide an immediate timeline on when they might move forward. She said the wheels are in motion and they plan to pursue the expansion in 2011.
The Fort Collins company experienced rapid growth in 2010 as it nearly doubled its operations, adding more than 100 employees this year, as well as a new office in Ireland for the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa markets.
Next year, the company plans to move into its new offices at 209 S. Meldrum St., in Fort Collins as well as pursue plans for a distribution center at the Interchange Business Park, on the east side of the Interstate 25 and Mulberry Street interchange.
With its new Ireland office, Richardson said they have seen an improvement in communication with contacts and business transactions are easier. The hope is an office in Hong Kong will produce the same results.
Richardson said there is a lot of opportunity for OtterBox in Hong Kong and that a portion of their online sales come from China.
