PerkStreet Financial and Lending Club have partnered together to offer the first ever Shred Your Credit Card Contest. The contest offers a grand prize of up to $1,000 for the contestant who devises the most creative way to destroy their credit card and then posts the video online.

Lending Club's Rob Garcia told 9NEWS the contest is designed to be a fun way to encourage consumers to improve their financial health.

"We said what better way of getting out of debt then putting your credit card away, destroying it if you need to," Garcia said. "Take matters into your own hands, and sometimes you have to take very extreme measures to accomplish your goal."

National Pizza Week

Jan. 9 marks the start of National Pizza Week. To celebrate, 9NEWS recently asked Facebook and Twitter followers for the oddest pizza topping they had ever had from a local pizzeria

One of the answers cited Pizza Republica in Greenwood Village. The pizzeria offers a pizza Giacomo with mozzarella, goat cheese, wild mushrooms, arugula and fried garlic.

Another pizzeria mentioned was Zpizza, also located in Greenwood Village. The franchise offers an Indian inspired chicken curry and yam rustica.

Zpizza also offer a North African Moroccan rustica that comes with basil pesto, mozzarella, roasted eggplant, feta, caramelized onions and pine nuts.

According to Zpizza owner Dennis Huntley, National Pizza Week can also be celebrated at home.

"If you want to try something different at home, something, flavorful, I'd say instead of pulling out a frozen pizza let's get a flat bread and let's put fresh veggies on it. Nothing out of a can, and try some herbs that you think you would like," Huntley told 9NEWS.
