AURORA - Many kids and their parents walked or biked to school Wednesday morning to mark international Walk to School Day.
The idea is to promote health, safety and education among adults and kids.
For one group in Aurora, walking to school isn't anything new.
They skip the bus and walk to Fletcher Elementary School two or three times a week, calling themselves the walking school bus.
Live Well Northwest Aurora sponsors the walking school bus and would like to see other schools get involved.
"We're working with the district to let them see the work that we have been doing so that eventually we can share our idea with other schools and hopefully influence school buses all over the district," Alisha Brown of Live Well Northwest Aurora said.
Parents wear reflective vests and go through training to learn how to keep the kids safe.
