TERROR PLOT SPECIAL SECTIONNEW YORK - Najibullah Zazi showed no emotion as a federal judge in New York read out loud the terrorism related charge he faces inside a packed New York courtroom Tuesday morning.
Zazi pleaded not guilty to one count of intent to use a weapon of mass destruction. The judge ordered that he remain detained while he goes through the court process.
The 24-year-old airport shuttle driver from Arapahoe County entered the plea in a federal courtroom in Brooklyn.
Zazi's attorney J. Michael Dowling was with him in court. He says he does not see any evidence so far to prove his client had the intent to build a bomb.
"I'd like to stop this rush to judgment because what I've seen so far does not amount to a conspiracy," Dowling told reporters gathered outside the courtroom.
Dowling works in Colorado and is aiding Arthur Folsom, Zazi's attorney throughout his questioning. Dowling also holds a license to practice law in New York.
Dowling told reporters Zazi is doing well. He was wearing a blue shirt over his standard issued orange jumpsuit. He arrived in New York on Friday. He's been in custody since his arrest at his Arapahoe County apartment on Sept. 19.
The judge scheduled Zazi to return to court on Dec. 3 at 11 a.m.
