DENVER - The crimes happened eight blocks apart: two different women attacked in less than two hours.

Denver police want to get the word out in hopes of preventing it from happening again.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, police say a woman was walking on West Walsh Place near South Federal Boulevard when a man in a maroon Cadillac drove up, grabbed her and tried to drag her into his car. The woman had a knife in her purse and stabbed the attacker before breaking free.

Eight blocks away, just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, another woman was knocked to the ground when a man hit her in the back of the head. She was also able to escape.

In both cases the suspect is described at Hispanic, about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 200 pounds with a long, black ponytail. In the first case, the suspect was described as having a thin beard.

Police believe the cases could be related. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP. You may be eligible for a reward.
