JEFFERSON COUNTY - A woman woke up to find a man in her bedroom sexually assaulting her and now the suspect is on the run, according to Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies.

The crime happened in the area between West Arlington Avenue and South Ward Street on June 26.

A woman in her 50s called 911 at about 2:30 a.m. saying she'd just caught a man in her house. Deputies aren't sure how the man got into her house.

Sheriff's deputies, along with a K-9 dog, arrived in the area within minutes but couldn't find the suspect. Deputies think he might have run away through an open space area.

The victim said the suspect wore dark blue clothing. She helped police come up with a sketch of the suspect and described him as:

• white male
• brown hair
• 20-30 years old
• 5 feet 9 inches tall
• 170 pounds

If you have information on the man, you could earn a cash reward for your tip from Crime Stoppers. Call 720-913-STOP (7867).

Sheriff's deputies suggest people, no matter where they live, lock their doors and windows before going to bed.
