DENVER - The murder of a man who was shot to death while sitting in his car left the community upset. Now, people are coming together more than two months later to help police try and find his killer.
Family and friends of Billy Ortiz, along with Denver Police, held a news conference on Wednesday to ask the public for help in solving the case.
Police say Ortiz was waiting for friends near South Federal Boulevard and Wesley Avenue when he was shot by an unknown man.
His mother is pleading for help.
"He was a very good kid. He wouldn't hurt anybody. He would have been a good friend to anybody. We need your help to find this person who did this to him," Dawn Ortiz, Billy's mother, said.
Family, friends, community volunteers, as well as police officers are joining forces Wednesday evening for a mass distribution of flyers, asking for help in the case.
If you know anything about the murder, you're asked to call Denver Police or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867)
