GREELEY (AP) - Former state Senate President Tom Norton holds a paper-thin lead in the Greeley mayor's race, but it's unclear whether that will hold after problem ballots are accounted for.

Norton has a 60-vote lead over City Councilman Ed Phillipsen out of more than 14,700 cast Tuesday.

The margin isn't close enough to trigger an automatic recount, but the results won't be official until problem ballots are reconciled. Countywide, 226 ballots were unsigned or had signatures that didn't match county records.

It's not clear how many of those included votes for mayor. Officials have until Nov. 18 to certify the results.

Norton says he doesn't expect the problem ballots to change the outcome. Phillipsen says he probably won't ask for a recount if it's not automatically triggered.
