AURORA - Fire investigators say a group of disgruntled customers of a 7-Eleven in Aurora retaliated against a clerk who wouldn't sell them cigarettes with a make-shift bomb.

On Oct. 13, two men in their early 20s came into the 7-11 on North Peoria Street Near East 19th Avenue asking to buy cigarettes. When the clerk refused, Aurora Fire Department investigators say the young men left the store.

When the young men returned, investigators say, one of them threw an improvised explosive device at the clerk.

The IED landed on the floor next to him. Because it didn't go off the clerk picked it up and put it on the counter.

When he turned to dial 911, it exploded.

The clerk was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

If you have any information about the men, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). You can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
