BOULDER (AP) - The city of Boulder plans to discuss whether to implement a four-month freeze on applications for marijuana dispensaries.

Several other municipalities across the state have implemented a moratorium on licensing the growing number of dispensaries while they determine how to regulate them. The Boulder City Council will be discussing the issue Tuesday evening.

This week Pueblo approved a 90-day moratorium on licensing dispensaries. In Silverthorne, officials last week approved rules for dispensaries that say they can operate as long as they're not near schools, residential neighborhoods and public places.

Medical marijuana use was approved in Colorado in 2000 but it is up to local governments to set regulations for dispensaries.
