Police believe man found at scene responsible for deadly stabbing

DENVER - Officers with the Denver Police Department responding to a home early Friday morning found a dead woman and a man with stabbing wounds to his neck and arm.

DPD spokesperson Sonny Jackson says police were called to 1873 South Clermont Street at around 1 a.m. The woman found inside the home was pronounced dead at the scene. She was later identified as 28-year-old Jessica Porter.


Police say the man at the scene was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.


Police say the man, 28-year-old Anthony Joseph Romero, is the suspect in the case and was arrested for investigation of first-degree murder.


Detectives plan to present to the case to the Denver District Attorney next week.


Police say they are not looking for any other suspects in the case.
