Rhonda Benz, the spokesperson for the Colorado Community College System (CCCS), confirmed that Dr. Karén Bleeker was no longer with the school as of Friday. She says the issue is a personnel matter.

The decision was made by the president of the community college system in consultation with the State Board of Community Colleges and Occupational Education. The CCCS is made up of 13 colleges, including the Community College of Denver.

Bleeker was named the president of the Community College of Denver (CCD) in January 2008 and assumed the role on April 1, 2008. Prior to her tenure at CCD, she was the Vice President of Educational Services/Chief Academic Officer of the Temple College District in Temple, Texas and Chief Academic Officer at the Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas.

Cliff Richardson, the CCCS Vice President of Finance and Administration, will serve as the interim president for CCD, until a permanent replacement is found.
