Greeley Police say it happened Sunday around 1:30 a.m. at a 7-Eleven store on East 18th Street.

At first, investigators believed it was a hit-and-run, but now they believe it is connected to an altercation that happened earlier at the Alas Blancas Bar, which is near the 7-Eleven.

Police say 25-year-old Joel Chairez, Jr. drove into four people, killing one of them. The other three men were taken to the hospital.

A fifth person was able to dive out of the way and was not hurt.

Police say Chairez is Hispanic, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, 230 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

He is facing a charge of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Anyone with information about Chairez is asked to call Greeley Police at 970-350-9600.
