The fire has burned an estimated 87,284 acres as of Friday morning. Larimer County officials confirm that 259 homes have been destroyed by the blaze.
The number of destroyed or damaged homes could increase after additional assessments are made. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office warns there may be people claiming to be able to obtain information on structure damage for a fee. The only official source for obtaining information is by calling 970-619-4086.
The current cost of the fire to date it estimated at $36.4 million.
Smoke will continue to be visible for several days, even though firefighters hope to have the fire fully contained by Sunday or Monday.
As of Friday, evacuation orders remain in place for the following areas:
- Areas accessed from Pingree Park Road (CR63E)
- Areas accessed from Old Flowers Road (CR52E) west of the 8000 block
- Areas accessed from Buckhorn Road (CR44H)
- Areas accessed from Hwy 14 between Mishiwaka and Eggers
