The Daily Camera reports Andrew Shoemaker of the city's local organizing committee for the race said Friday that the committee will focus instead on bidding for a leg in 2014.
The city hosted part of this year's race, which passes through selected Colorado cities.
Analysts say the economic impact on Boulder was much less than the $8 million that the Boulder Convention and Visitors Bureau had predicted because many spectators were local residents.
Members of the Boulder City Council say they still believe this year's race was a success.
The event has drawn criticism from some residents in Boulder who are concerned about impacts on open space and recreation areas.
