At 11:55 a.m., authorities say a 2012 red Toyota sedan with four students was heading southbound on Highway 85 near 144th Avenue when the driver changed lanes to pass another vehicle. After passing the vehicle, the driver of the Toyota appeared to lose control while the driver moved back into his original lane.
As a result, the car rolled multiple times and came to rest in the highway median.
One occupant, who was a junior, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger was airlifted to an area hospital due to the severity of her injuries. Two others were transported by ambulance with less severe injuries.
The names victims are being withheld pending notification of family members. All four students attended Prairie View High School.
