The building is being sold to RedPeak Management, which plans to convert the Burnsley into apartments or condos.
The hotel was built as an apartment house in 1963. It was converted into a hotel shortly thereafter.
According to the Burnsley website, the hotel was purchased in 1969 by Joy and Franklin Burns from an investment group that included Ella Fitzgerald and Kirk Douglas.
In 1983, the hotel was gutted and remodeled into the Burnsley Hotel, home to visiting musicians and a blizzard escape for 9NEWS employees stuck downtown for the night.
